Thomas Circle of Care Inc. (TCOC) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our board of directors. If you are committed to our mission and possess the skills and experience, we encourage you to apply. We are currently recruiting members to increase our representation of First Nations and Metis ancestry and ways of knowing.
Position: Board Member (status volunteer)
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in bi-monthly board meetings.
- Contribute in setting strategic direction of TCOC and decision-making processes.
- Setting goals and measures for corporate performance.
- Recruitment, empowerment and monitoring of Executive Director.
- Exercise fiduciary responsibilities in managing TCOC’s resources.
- Approve policies, procedures and systems for implementing strategies and managing risk and ensuring legal requirements, documents and records have been properly prepared, approved and maintained.
- Acting in the best interests of the Corporation, provide governance experience to Board deliberations and special expertise in the areas of human resources, finance, legal, community programming, IT security indigenous culture and equity and diversity.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the mission and values of TCOC.
- Previous experience with non-profit governance boards and or private/public board (an asset). Governance training such as ICD.d considered an asset.
- Advocate for addressing community needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Availability to attend board meetings and participate in occasional events.
